School Board President, Julie Miller, addressed the staff at Mott-Regent Public School to begin the 2025-2026 school year.
Julie began by welcoming all the staff. She then talked about how rewarding it is to see the excited students on the first day. She reminded us that being a school board member, administrator, teacher, paraprofessional, or any staff in the building can have its struggles, but just how lucky we all are to be a part of the lives of the children.
She pointed out a few things from the last school year that she is extremely proud of within our district. These are just a few of the items on her list:
We implemented another level of standards based grading
Brenda Meier was recognized as the Hettinger County Teacher of the Year
Mott-Regent climbed to #32 in North Dakota by the annual US News and World Report Rankings
the Urban Pollinator Garden was established by Mr. Alido
Our average ACT and ASVAB scores improved
We finished the year under budget without sacrificing the quality of education provided by the district
The total number of discipline referrals decreased for a third consecutive year
The district kicked off the "Backpack Program" for families in need with help from organizations within the community
We adopted a hybrid calendar which features a four day school week during the spring semester. Early reports are showing improvement in attendance, behaviors, and academic achievements!
Julie concluded with thank you. As a mom, she appreciates the daily positive experiences her boys have. As a board member, she thanked the staff for working with the administration, school board, and each other to make our school a safe and positive experience for the children in Mott-Regent while providing an outstanding education.
