What is Family and Consumer Sciences?
Family and Consumer Sciences started out as Home Economics (Home Ec. or HE) that began in the early 1900s. In 1994, the name "Family and Consumer Sciences" began to replace Home Ec. to reflect the fact that the courses often cover aspects outside of home life. Along with cooking and sewing, other topics covered in FCS classes include personal finance, careers, housing and interior designs, child development, nutrition, ethnic cuisines, and learning to live independently.
I am a graduate of Linton High School and recieved my teaching degree at NDSU. I began teaching at Mott/Regent in January of 2013 and am currently in my 7th year here. I enjoy teaching the many subjects FACS has to offer!
