• Extemporaneous Public Speaking

Each participant is given a choice of an article from a list of 20 taken from agriculture related magazines.  They are then given 30 minutes to write a speech on this article.  Then they must give a four to six minute speech to a panel of judges and answer any questions the judges have concerning the speech topic.

What's good about the contest?  First and foremost it develops the member's speaking abilities.  It also makes the member think quickly to write a speech in a half hour.  Also, it keeps the person aware of current agriculture issues and allows the opportunity to voice his or her opinion on the subject.
